Here are five ways you can sell your home for top dollar in our market.

So, you’re looking to sell your home. That’s great news, especially with how good our market is. However, there are still things you can do to make sure you get top dollar, and I want to share five of them with you today:

1. Improve your curb appeal. What does your house look like from the street? Are your plants well maintained? Is your lawn cut? How is the paint job? Fix what you can and update when necessary. First impressions are everything in real estate.

2. Declutter. Go room by room and clear everything out you don’t need. I recommend that you get a storage area outside your living space to put your stuff. Don’t use your garage; buyers will still want to look at it.

3. Depersonalize. You want the buyer to come into your home and see themselves there, not you. Family is great, but if someone is hung up on your family photos, they aren’t looking at the house.

4. Deep Clean. This is more important than you think. We all think our homes are clean, but they probably aren’t as clean as they could be. Everything that normally wouldn’t be part of your routine should be taken care of.

5. Simple repairs. These are the things we don’t even notice when we live in a home. Maybe a light switch doesn’t work, or maybe you have a creaky floorboard. These are little fixes you should make before people visit your house.
